Mount Rainier Engagement Session: Christina + Marcus

For their engagement session, Christina and Marcus wanted something that felt super Pacific Northwest-y, so we headed to Mount Rainier National Park. We weren’t in search of the typical mountain peaks for their shoot, but rather one of the amazing waterfalls in the park, nestled inside an old growth forest.

Mount Rainier National Park is known for its snow-capped mountains, but it’s also home to several incredible waterfalls. It actually has 150 different waterfalls within the national park boundary! To see these Pacific Northwest gems, you’ll need a park pass ($30), but if you have big plans for national park adventures this year, I definitely recommend checking out the America the Beautiful pass! Its only $50 more and gets you into almost all the national parks in the COUNTRY for the whole year! Mine is a permanent fixture on my dashboard for all of my elopement and adventure sessions.

Speaking of elopements, if you want to elope at one of these breathtaking waterfalls, you’ll need a wedding permit from Mount Rainier National Park. These permits take about three months (or more!) to process, so be sure to think ahead! The park rangers are super strict at Mount Rainier National, and will double check just about anyone that looks like they’re in wedding or elopement attire. But being able to say you got married on top of a mountain or at the base of a waterfall surrounded by beautiful scenery? Totally worth it.
