Camano Island Proposal: Angelina + Gunnar

Another post that’s more family than business for me :)

Angelina is my sister’s sister-in-law, but for years we’ve always just thought of the three of us as three sisters. My newest baby sister is such a special treasure and our family would not be complete without her. We get to be aunties together! So when Gunnar got in touch to start planning a very special day, I was giddy with excitement. Luckily Lauren’s husband Anthony had already put us through this once so we knew just how exciting this day would be!

Ang and Gunnar started dating in college, what feels now like a million years ago. I met Gunnar pretty soon after I met Ang, and knew right away what a complimentary couple they were. They are an amazing team, and Gigi also approves of her new uncle - a giggling “GUN GUN!!” is an exclamation we hear all the time from my niece.

Ang’s family has a house up on Camano Island, where oysters are in season year round (and so is the rain). Lauren and Anthony snuck Ang out of the house one morning under the guise of going for a “nature walk”. Being a true dog lover, she bundled up and got ready for the rain. When they arrived to the trailhead, Gunnar was ready and waiting. He had previously come up with some story about getting stuck back on the mainland with work, so Ang was completely surprised.

Down on one knee with the Puget Sound in the background, Gunnar popped the question to a shocked and sobbing Ang, who said yes. Then everyone’s best friend Norman the chocolate lab raced down to kiss them congratulations!

We all headed back up to the house (with a tiny baby bear in tow, pictured). We celebrated with the whole family, including champagne and toasts. Ang was even more shocked when her best friend showed up at the little party as a surprise!

This whole day was such a special moment for my family and I’m so excited to share it. Being the slow blogger that I am, these two’s wedding day has already come and gone! I think it was probably the only thing that could have topped this proposal in terms of romance. And of course our little baby bear was the flower girl!

If you’re planning a proposal on Camano Island or any of the San Juan’s, I would love to be there! I’m just a quick ferry ride away and I can’t wait to bring all this same magic to your story too!
