Sunny Floral Boudoir: Stephanie's 30th Birthday Session

Sunshine & Self-Love: Your Boudoir Prep Checklist

I was absolutely inspired by Stephanie’s 30th Birthday session. The way her photoshoot blended soft light, romantic florals, and cozy textures with the cool, confident edge of denim was simply stunning. It was a perfect celebration of where she is right now: radiant, confident, and ready for her next decade.

It's natural to feel a mix of excitement and nerves before your session. To make sure your day flows beautifully and we capture your most gorgeous images, here are the most important things for you, the client, to prepare.

1. The Mindset Requirement: Coming Ready

This is the most crucial part of your preparation. My studio is a space of self-love, and your job is to arrive ready to relax and enjoy the luxury of being celebrated.

  • Trust the Vision: You don't need to know how to pose! I will guide you through every position, from the tilt of your chin to the curve of your body, ensuring you look incredible in every shot. I am here to be your ultimate hype-person and director.

  • The Power of 'Why': Remember why you booked this session. Focusing on that positive intention will help you stay present and confident.

  • Communicate Your Comfort: Before we begin, I'll chat with you about your style, what features you love, and any poses you'd prefer to skip. Your comfort is the foundation of a successful session.

2. The Wardrobe Requirements: Styling Your Shoot

Your outfits set the tone. For a standard session, we usually do 3-5 complete looks. You can choose all of your pieces from the client wardrobe, bring them all from home, or mix and match!

For a look inspired by Stephanie's soft, sunny, floral, and denim theme, here's what to focus on:

  • The Soft Textures: Think about pieces that catch the light beautifully and feel luxurious against your skin. A delicate lace slip, a simple sheer kimono, or a chunky, oversized cardigan can be draped to create that cozy, inviting texture.

  • The Unexpected Denim: If you love the casual-cool contrast in Stephanie's images, bring your favorite pair of jeans or a fitted denim jacket. Pairing them with a sexy bra or a lace bodysuit creates a beautiful, confident edge.

  • Your Foundation: Bring your best-fitting bra and panty set or a high-waisted bodysuit. Fit is everything! If you want to use florals, bringing a small, fresh bouquet adds an instant romantic, sunny prop.

  • Footwear and Accessories: Bring along any shoes that complete your looks, along with any meaningful jewelryor small props you wish to include.

3. The Beauty Prep Timeline

A little planning goes a long way toward ensuring your skin is glowing and there are no last-minute stresses.

  • 5 to 3 Days Out: Smoothness is Key. If you plan to wax or shave, do this 3 to 5 days out. This gives your skin time to calm down and lose any redness before the session. Manicures and pedicures should be done in neutral or light colors.

  • The Night Before: Rest and Hydrate. Get a full night's sleep and drink plenty of water. Also, gently exfoliate and moisturize your skin.

  • The Day Of: Arrival Ready.

    • Fuel Up: Posing requires energy, so please eat a light meal beforehand.

    • Wear Loose Clothing: This is very important: Arrive wearing only loose-fitting clothes like joggers, an oversized T-shirt, or a robe to prevent any lines or imprints from tight undergarments from transferring onto your skin.

    • Hair and Makeup: Let’s chat about whether your personal makeup routine will suit your session best, or if we want to bring in the professionals!

Your session is going to be amazing. I can't wait to see the beautiful confidence you bring into the studio!
