Rainy Fall Engagement Photos at Rattlesnake Lake: Caroline + Michael

If you’re wondering whether it’s worth it to do your engagement photos in the rain, Caroline and Michael are proof that the answer is yes.

We met at Rattlesnake Lake in North Bend, Washington for their fall engagement session. The lake was dramatically receded, revealing wide rocky shores and tree stumps that added texture and mood to the landscape. The sky was overcast and the rain came and went, but these two embraced it all—snuggling up under a clear umbrella and laughing their way through every moment.

Rattlesnake Lake is a popular spot for couples photos in the PNW, and for good reason. Even on rainy days, the mountain backdrop and stillness of the lake create a quiet, romantic atmosphere. It’s especially beautiful in the fall, when the colors shift and the fog hangs low on the trees.

We kept things simple, walking along the shoreline and letting Caroline and Michael be themselves. Their chemistry made the whole session easy, even when the rain picked up. The clear umbrella not only kept them mostly dry, but added a sweet, cozy element to the photos.

If you're considering an engagement session in the Seattle area, don’t let weather hold you back. With the right location and a little flexibility, a rainy day can turn into something incredibly special.
