Seattle Newborn Session: Hammarlund Family

You might remember the cutest kiddos ever from a post last October, and now their baby sister Alva has arrived! I will truly be missing these cuties; shortly after their session they made the move back to Sweden! It was so fun to work with them both before and after Miss Alva’s arrival!

For their first session, Sara wanted a studio with white floors and white walls to match their home aesthetic. For this session, we went with white linens and outfits so they still were in harmony with the maternity session, but being in-home, we were able to achieve a very cozy vibe, perfect for a newborn session. Aren’t these three the cutest gals!?

In-home sessions are perfect for those with newborns because they allow you to be at home, comfortable in your own space. If there are older siblings, it’s also easier for them to feel more at ease and get those natural, snuggly family shots. I often hear “but my home isn’t good for photos” - trust me, I can make it work. These images were taken in a spare room basement with only a sliding door giving natural light, no artificial light was used. The key is light colored fabrics, allowing for plenty of reflective light, and positioning in a way that the little bit of natural light we do have is working toward our advantage. I love getting creative and finding a way to not only document your family, but your family in your own space. In-home sessions are one of the best ways to make memories :)
